The DSD 5000 twin tuner PVR ready satellite decoder ticks every box when it comes to performance, physical size and includes features not seen before in an Australian VAST certified product. 

Firstly, for those of you unsure what a VAST decoder is - VAST is the acronym for Viewer Access Satellite Television.  The VAST service is broadcast on the Optus 10/D3 satellites and can be accessed by people living in poor TV reception areas as well as travellers on the road with a mobile satellite system in a caravan, camper or motorhome.  Connect this decoder to your satellite dish and access all of the free to air digital channels such as ABC, SBS, Seven Central (Seven Network), Imparja (Nine Network), Ten Central (Ten Network) as well as ABC NEWS, SBS2, Mate, Go, Gem, One, Eleven etc etc.  A host of radio channels are also broadcast such as BBC World News, Triple J, Double J etc.

Any traveller can access the VAST service by registering their included smartcard at https://www.mysattv.com.au/travellers.aspx .  For those of you living in poor reception areas, please check your eligibility at http://myswitch.digitalready.gov.au/ then clicking on satellite summary.

This decoder is a PVR ready unit (no hard drive included). The PVR ready unit features an external USB slot and you can connect most external USB drives such as a USB stick or drive. The unit is also available with a 500GB harddrive. You can view this product here

      • This satellite reciever was working fine than one day the channel's stop being found now when I try to search for any channels on any frequency it says satellite failed to respond to tuner how come it works fine one day than the next it's all out

        Hello, there are a myriad of reasons your decoder is not scanning in the channels:

        Decoder is faulty (possibly due to age)
        Settings are wrong in decoder and prevents decoder from scanning channels
        LNB on end of the dish arm is faulty
        Dish is out of alignment
        Dish is rusty and lnb arm has dropped
        Cable is faulty
        Connectors on cable are faulty
        Corrosion in cable/connectors at dish end

        Yes it will. To make things easier you can also purchase a multiswitch. That way you can have two cables going to the Foxtel box and one to the VAST.

      • When you say you can connect a hard drive to it, does that mean to record to or can I play movies on the hard drive to the decoder to my tv?

      • Somehow my smart card has gone missing. How can I order a new one?

        Hi,

        Unfortunately the cards are individually matched to each box. Therefore you can't swap or replace them.
        If the card is missing there is no other option than to replace the box.

      • My system works perfectly for a while then no signal message appears on screen and set top box reboots Systems runs for short period then it does it again and again Dish is locked on and I have changed the TV sets but the problem persists Is my set top box failing?

        Hi Ian,

        Yes, it does sound like the VAST box. They tend to start re-booting once they get old, just before they fail.
        If you want to be 100% sure, put it on another dish and see if it does the same thing.

        Hi Kurt,

        You can use an HDMI splitter on the output or use the AV for one TV and the HDMI for another.

        However, you will only be able to watch the same channel on both TVs. If you require different channels you would need to purchase two VAST boxes.

        Installation is easy. Simply remove the head of your exisiting TV bracket from the back of your TV, place the SatPlus bracket plate over the 4 existing mounting holes and bolt your TV bracket head back to the TV. 

         

          Discreet Cabling Pack:

          Our integrated TV bracket cable pack reduces the cable mess behind the TV and makes removing the TV from the bracket for travel much quicker and easier by minimising the number of cables to unplug.  It consists of:
          • High Quality Kramer high speed HDMI cable for connection from the SRT 5000 VAST box to the TV
          • Single DC splitter cable to split the existing TV power cable so that the single cable can power both the VAST box and the TV simultaneously
          • DC 2.1mm to 2.5mm adapter.  This is included as the decoder utilises a 2.5mm DC socket whereas almost all TV's have a 2.1mm DC socket
          • Quick connect 300mm satellite cable.  This cable will screw on permanently to the back of the  box and the other end is a quick connect PAL TV MALE plug
          • PAL TV FEMALE adapter to connect to your existing sat cable
