Very happy with my Sat King Pro installation and it works really well as long as it’s not raining . Left Perth WA camped at Geraldton and the heavens opened up with real heavy rain and no problem with Sat King Pro reception , travelled another 600 Klms north to Carnarvon WA rained the first night and lost reception, next day was fine no problem with reception. Suppose I will just have to suck it up when it rains or does anyone had the problem and solved it
Hi Peter and thank you for your review. Wet weather definitely has a negative impact on satellite reception, particularly when heading into remote WA as the satellite signal is already quite weak around there. You'll find as you get up to the Kimberley region that it is even more affected but then as you get closer to Darwin the signal improves and is more robust even in wet weather. Happy travels.
Russ,
Great to have a chat today and to receive the positive feedback about the great performance of the Promax on your trip across the Nullarbor plain to NSW and up through western QLD and down the middle of Australia.
As mentioned on the phone if you could let me know when you travelled and stopped roughly at each location and that you were watching all channels in these locations. This would be great feedback for other potential Promax customers and we would place this on our website. A picture of your van in one of these locations (great if you could see the Promax in the pic if possible, but it is ok if not) would be placed with the post.

How does the coverage areas of the Promax compare with other auto satellite dishs eg oyster or sphere? Paul
Hello Paul,
Good question. SatKing have worked with the South Korean manufacturer to fine tune the Promax so that it locks on in some of the worst satellite signal areas in Australia. The worst areas are North Western WA Kimberley region, Kununnurra and inland south of there as well as select areas of Central Australia and Northern QLD. Have a look at the Optus coverage map listed on our website here - https://www.satplus.com.au/collections/roof-mounted-satellite-systems/products/satking-promax-automatic-satellite-dish
Over the years we have sold many automatic systems across three brands and all three have had issues locking on in parts of Australia. The Promax, like the Oyster have the added advantage over the Sphere of being able to be finely tuned in poor signal areas. So, if you are experiencing a lot of picture break up you can enter the manual tuning mode and improve the signal quality. This is a definite advantage. The Promax features GPS for faster signal lock and auto shut down if the van moves over 10 kph so this is a nice feature. Whereas the Oyster and Sphere need to be connected to an ignition source if you want auto shut down should you forget to close the dish and this is not always possible in a caravan.
There can be no doubt though that the Oyster with its large 85cm reflector and the ability to select a location close to you within the menu should enable it to outperform the Promax but this would only apply in these lower signal areas as per the map. In most locations, the Promax will provide exceptional performance and offer reliable service.
An added benefit of the Promax over ALL roof mounted satellite dishes os the wind load. In moderate winds, most traditional systems should be closed whereas the Promax is unaffected.
The Promax is also heavier than traditional systems but less space required too. SatKing have been communicating with a customer who has been travelling in very remote WA and the system has been working well. Areas travelled by customer are below. However, we still are reserved and prefer to state 95% coverage of land mass with low or no coverage in some spots.
Kununurra WA
Halls Creek WA
Fitzroy Crossing WA
Albany WA
Eighty Mile Beach WA
Various Roadside camps WA
Port Headland WA
Karratha WA
Currently in Carnarvon WA and now travelling to Tom Price and back to the NT.
She had all channels in all locations, just one roadside camp that had lots of big trees and the unit would not lock.

Can I install myself
Hi there,
The Satking Promax satellite system can be easily installed yourself. The system comes complete with a circular aluminium plate and is easily glued to the roof using Sikaflex Marine (white). Cables are then routed across the roof and in through an overhead cupboard down to where the control box and satellite decoder will be located.
Cheers
John
dear sir how much does this weigh.thankyou Dave Thomas.
Hello David,
The SatKing Promax weighs 20KG on the roof. It would be best to mount it near the edge of the van for extra strength or over the internal wall of the ensuite (if applicable).
Cheers
John
Do trees interfere with reception ? If yes can I still us my portable dish ? What is the cost of a UEC DSD 4921 RV PVR
Hi there, yes trees still affect an automatic dish just like a portable one. One benefit of the auto is the height so hopefully more chance of getting clear of nearby trees. The Altech 4921 price can be found here - https://www.satplus.com.au/products/altech-4921-rv-vast-certified-decoder-home-or-caravan-use?variant=31261739253895

Can the Promax replace a winegard aerial? ie, on the same roof bracket? Or does it need its own fitting?
Hi Anthony,
The Promax comes with its own mounting plate and coaxial cable so if you are planning on removing the Winegard then leave the internal handle mechanism intact and remove the external antenna only then the plate will cover this, Most people leave the antenna there and install the Promax separate to this. It is fairly compact so you should be able to fit it somewhere.
Regards
John
Hi would the pro max work Ihave an altech 4121 decoder
Hi there, Yes if you have the Altech decoder then it will work with the Promax. Regards John
Hi, we have 2 stb's in our van. One has 2 coax cables, the other has 1, is it posible to connect them to the promax . Regards
Hi there and very sorry for the late reply. I gather you're referring to the Foxtel IQ box. Yes, with the use of a multiswitch you can connect multiple decoders to the Promax. We're happy to include the Multiswitch at no extra charge. Cheers John

The Altech 4921/5000 VAST decoder is an unusual shape and has no mounting holes to mount under a shelf or vertically inside a cupboard. For these reasons, we offer 2 mounting options:
Under shelf bracket: Custom made aluminium mounting shelf bracket to suit Altech UEC 4921/5000 PVR ready & PVR satellite decoders. Two piece design locks the decoder in place whether mounted horizontally, vertically or even upside down. Made specifically for the Altech 4921/5000 PVR and PVR ready models only. Will not suit other VAST decoders.
PLEASE NOTE THE PHOTOGRAPHS SHOW THE BRACKETS IN POWDER-COATED BLACK. WE NOW ONLY OFFER THESE IN RAW ALUMINIUM.
Easy to install and gives a professional look to complete your installation.
Integrated TV bracket:
Already mount your TV on a TV wall bracket? Not sure if you have space to mount your new Altech VAST box? Want to keep the installation clean and tidy from messy cabling? You take the TV off the TV support bracket while travelling anyway so why not have the Altech VAST box mounted permanently on the back of the TV? What a great integrated solution.
Our SatPlus 4921/5000 integrated TV bracket is the perfect solution that:
Installation is easy. Simply remove the head of your exisiting TV bracket from the back of your TV, place the SatPlus 4921 bracket plate over the 4 existing mounting holes and bolt your TV bracket head back to the TV.
Unlike a traditional roof mounted satellite dish, the SatKing Promax utilises an advanced reception antenna array. This has several advantages:
Fully automatic in every way, the SatKing Promax satellite system will lock onto the satellite in under a minute. With the press of two buttons the system will deploy and seek the strongest signal by fine tuning itself for maximum signal. The new control box (IDU) features a digital display so just select your satellite (Optus D3/C1) and press OK.
Featuring a twin output LNB, the SatKing Promax motorised satellite antenna is suitable for use with VAST, Foxtel (standard and IQ) as well as Austar (standard and MyStar) boxes.
An added feature of the Promax is built in GPS. The GPS unit not only enhances the search ability but also closes the dish to the home position should you drive off and forget to close it. The motorised dish will automatically retract once the vehicle is travelling above 10Kph (the unit does require 12v or 24v power).
Rugged build quality and steel gearbox and backed with a 3 year Australian warranty. The unit is made in Korea which is well known for producing high quality, high tech products.
The SatKing ProMax automatic satellite dish comes with detailed instructions for self installation or we can arrange professional installation - please email us and we may be able to suggest a local installer. In Melbourne and on the Sunshine Coast we have recommended installers available so please call. You may wish to have the SatKing ProMax as standard equipment when you order your van, let your dealer know and we can ship direct to the manufacturer or dealer.
Peace of mind, this unit is supported by SatPlus and we can assist with your initial set up and support you may require. We've been in business since 2006 and have a sold reputation for exceptional customer service.
